The National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus was founded on March 22, 1991.
On March 9, 1992, it was recognized by the International Olympic Committee as a temporary member of this organization.
At the 101st session of the IOC, which took place on September 21-24, 1993 in Monaco, the NOC of Belarus became a full member of the world Olympic family. The Republic of Belarus has received the right to delegate its national team to the Olympic Games.
In October 2016, the 45th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees was held at the headquarters of the NOC of Belarus, at which Minsk was approved as the venue for the II European Games in 2019.
After the establishment of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the country's athletes competed at 17 Olympic Games – 9 winter and 8 summer. They won 109 medals.: 22 gold, 39 silver, 48 bronze
