There are 655 objects listed in the state list of historical and cultural values of the Republic of Belarus in Minsk. This includes individual monuments of architecture, history, archeology, as well as entire urban planning ensembles.
Among the most famous and iconic architectural ensembles and sights of the capital are:
The Upper Town is a historical center with the Minsk City Hall and the Cathedral;
Troitskoe suburb — picturesque quarter of the 19th century;
Independence Avenue is a unique ensemble in the style of the Stalinist Empire, claiming to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.;
The architectural complex "Gates of Minsk" — the famous twin towers on the Forecourt;
The Church of St. Simeon and St. Helena (the Red Church) is an outstanding Neo—Gothic church.
There are also 17 theaters, 30 museums, and more than 30 galleries in the capital, and the Belarusian State Circus pleases the city's guests with its performances. There are two water parks and one zoo.
