Trinity Church

St. Roch's Church is a Catholic church in Minsk in the historical district of Zolotaya Gorka. The monument of architecture in the Neo-Gothic style is included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of the Republic of Belarus.
Zolotogorsky parish is the oldest in Minsk. It was founded in the 14th century by King Jagiello. At his expense, a wooden church was built on Troitskaya Gora, but in 1409 it was destroyed by fire. The church was rebuilt again, but the new church suffered the same fate — in 1809 it also burned down. They wanted to restore the church for the third time, but there were not enough finances for the construction, and since 1832 parishioners prayed in the wooden chapel of St. Roch at the Zolotogorsky Catholic cemetery.
By the middle of the 19th century, the wooden building of the former chapel, which became the church of the Holy Trinity, was badly dilapidated. Bishop A. Voitkevich managed to obtain permission to build a new stone church, which was erected in 3 years (1861-1864) according to the project of Academician of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts M. Sivitsky. The Neo-Gothic church was built with funds received from collecting donations, and they were collected not only by Catholics, but also by representatives of other faiths and religions as a sign of gratitude to Saint Roch, who was believed to have saved the city from the cholera epidemic.
