Oktyabrskaya Square is the geographical and cultural center of the Belarusian capital. The central place on the square is occupied by the Palace of the Republic (1999, architect M. Pirogov). The grandiose monumental building measuring 100 by 100 meters rises by 45 meters and accommodates up to 4,000 people at a time. The most important state events, concerts and the main Christmas tree of the country take place here. The largest hall with 2.5 thousand seats is located here.
