A step into the history of the Moscow region

The water tower in Minsk, built in 1910 from red brick, stands out for its unusual design. Its upper part, lined with lighter brick, is the result of restoration work carried out in the pre—war period.. The fact that the water tower in Minsk was built in the Neo-Gothic style is evident from the complex curbs and cornices.

The park is a cozy corner surrounded by greenery of old trees. These tall trees not only create coolness, but also create a peaceful atmosphere, which is so necessary in the rhythm of a big city. The central element of the park is the bust of four-time Hero of the Soviet Union Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov, which was inaugurated on May 8, 2007. The bust was designed by sculptor Anatoly Efimovich Artimovich and architect Andrei Petrovich Zhilinsky. This monument attracts the attention of passers-by and serves as an important reminder of the great commander who played a key role in the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.

Petrovshchyna was once a remote suburb of Minsk. A measured village life flowed here until the war broke out. Residents of the village of Petrovshchyna buried the dead Red Army soldiers wherever they could: by the road, on their farmsteads, in fields, in bomb craters or shells. After the war, the bodies were exhumed and reburied in a mass grave across the street from the village cemetery. 35 people found their resting place here, 24 of whom remained anonymous.

The Belarusian State Medical University is the leading higher medical educational institution of the Republic of Belarus, which has a well–deserved authority and recognition not only in our country, but also far beyond its borders.

This church is an important spiritual center for parishioners and residents of the city. It features beautiful architecture and a cozy atmosphere conducive to spiritual solitude and prayer. It's worth coming here to listen to the wonderful singing of the church choir.

Worship services are regularly held in the church. On weekdays, liturgies begin at 9:00 a.m., and evening services take place at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the morning Liturgy also begins at 9:00 a.m., and the all–night service begins at 6 p.m. On Sunday, two morning liturgies are held – at 7:30 and 10:00, as well as the evening akathist at 18:00.

The giant bull figure located on the Brest–Minsk highway is nothing more than a real treasure of the whole of Belarus. The height of the monument is approximately 30 meters. A huge bison is located on a small hill right next to the road.

A bright light sculpture of a bison, the symbol of Belarus, installed in 2018, stands near the Dune residential complex at the intersection of Churlenis Street and Dzerzhinsky Avenue. This massive figure immediately became an urban landmark. Created on a sturdy aluminum metal frame, the sculpture is a monumental bison, which is illuminated from the inside by a multitude of yellow LEDs after dark. This illumination highlights the power and grandeur of the animal, giving it a lively and expressive appearance.

The opening ceremony and awarding of the Pavlov Park with the participation of the leadership of the Minsk City Executive Committee and the Minsk City Council of Deputies took place on the day of Mikhail Yakovlevich Pavlov's 60th birthday, September 1, 2012. Before the naming of Pavlov, the park was popularly called Mukhley. During the public discussion of the new name of the park, local residents suggested several historical options (Verkhovichi Park, Starokurgany Park, Dvoritsky Park). But the deputies decided to pay tribute to the merits of the former chairman of the Minsk city Executive Committee, Mikhail Pavlov, who led the city from March 2000 to June 2009.

At the initiative of Mikhail Pavlovich, a city holiday began to be held in the capital. Also, through his efforts, the old coat of arms was returned to Minsk, the flag, the anthem and the statute of the capital were approved. Minsk residents, or rather, residents of the Southwest, like to walk along the shady alleys of the Mikhail Pavlov Recreation Park. This wonderful corner, located among ravines and hills, with a lovely murmuring river, lies 500 meters from the Malinovka metro station. Its landscape makes it possible to plunge into the living coolness of nature in the blink of an eye and forget about the urban noise of the metropolis.

The genre sculpture, located near the Malinovka metro station, causes ambiguous emotions among everyone who has seen it. She impresses many, and makes some people think of fr.Easter.

On the southwestern outskirts of Minsk, on Zvyazda Newspaper Avenue, opposite building No. 32, Building 1, a burial mound from the time of Kievan Rus has been preserved. Its height is 4 m and its diameter is 20 m. Back in 1978 and 1980, archaeologists from the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR established a security zone around the mound.

This is the burial of the Dregovichi, dated X–XI centuries. When the Southwest region was just beginning to be built up in the late 1970s, archaeologists excavated, during which they discovered ceramics, a knife, the remains of a wooden bucket, a temple ring, glass and carnelian beads, and a silver bead. In total, in the south-west of the modern capital at the beginning of the twentieth century, there were more than 200 mounds, both standing alone and in groups. They were located near the villages of Brilevichi, Dvorishche, Kurasovshchina, Loshitsa, Malinovka, Medvezhino, Sennitsa, Sukharevo, Petrovshchina, etc. During the interwar period, many of them were studied by archaeologists. Unfortunately, most of the mounds have not been preserved. They were plowed or demolished by construction machinery.

The Zvezda Hotel started its work in 1982. According to some sources, it became the first private hotel in Minsk, and its original name was Patriot. The Zvezda Hotel is located in a quiet area of the Belarusian capital, three minutes from the exit to the Berlin–Moscow European highway. The exit to the Minsk ring road will take 5 minutes, and the city center can be reached in fifteen to twenty minutes.
